There is currently the possibility of applying for funding to work with me for two years in the vibrant and sunny city of València on topics related to astrophysics, general relativity, and/or mathematical physics.
While I cannot guarantee the proposal’s success, I believe the chances are non-negligible, and the outcome would offer an excellent working environment and conditions.
This is not a stipend, but a proper contract with all social benefits included—healthcare, pension contributions, and so on—providing security and peace of mind. Additionally, compared to other major cities in Spain, València offers relatively low living costs, particularly in terms of rent. Again, nothing is promised, and this may sound like the milkmaid and her pail, but it would be not a huge surprise if this position would lead to a permanent position at the university.
València itself is a wonderful place to live and work. The office is located just 10 minutes away from the beach, making it easy to enjoy the Mediterranean sea during a lunch break or after work. The city basks in 11 months of sunshine a year with mild, pleasant temperatures, which is ideal for those who appreciate a sunny, outdoor lifestyle.
I deeply value academic freedom and firmly believe that our best work arises when we are inspired and unencumbered. Therefore, you will have complete freedom to pursue your own research, as long as it aligns with the broad themes of astrophysics, general relativity, or mathematical physics. I am here to collaborate, discuss, and provide support whenever needed, but I will not impose myself. I trust in the joy and independence of research, and I strive to foster a respectful and stimulating environment for all.
If you are interested or know someone who might be, please do not hesitate to reach out to me for further details. València, with its rich culture, affordable lifestyle, and proximity to the sea, could be the perfect backdrop for your next chapter.
Interested candidates please drop me an e-mail: amaro AT riseup.net. The deadline is ONE MONTH FROM TODAY (December 17th 2024), so please speed up. The application per se is easy but there is an amount of paperwork to be done on the side of the university, so time is of the essence! (I have always wandered what essence that is).
And just to tempt you:
